Domestic Abuse Floating Support Case Study

Before I received support from WHAG I felt distraught, confused, angry and totally overwhelmed with everything. It was the first time I had actually accepted help, the main reason being that my support worker had an understanding of my circumstances and the condition I suffered from. The care and understanding in which things have been explained and accompanying me to appointments was fantastic. Having someone separate from family and friends is an essential part of how I have recovered, because I was free to express myself without any judgment, without upsetting my family members.

Over the months seeing my support worker I have overcome some of my anxieties, for example, I could not go shopping on my own for the first few month I was meeting Ruth. However I eventually began to do some shopping on my own either before or after meeting my support worker. Support from WHAG has given me more confidence in my everyday life and I have learnt to accept my condition and not expect too much from myself.

Making small steps for clients, leads to big changes and it is satisfying to see WHAG making a difference to peoples lives.
