Bury – Domestic Abuse Floating Support -Men and Women

The service is open to both men and women aged 16+ living in the borough of Bury

Who is the service for?

The service is open to both MEN and WOMEN aged 16 & over living in the borough of Bury who are experiencing domestic abuse and want to leave the relationship/have experienced domestic abuse and want housing related support.  Clients who require the service must have support needs relating to their own or joint tenancy arrangements, this includes private/council/HA and owner occupier.

How to make a referral?

A self-referral or agency referral can be made by downloading DA Floating Support form. Download Form

Agencies making the referral should return completed forms by emailing Central Access Point centralaccess@bury.gov.uk or directly to WHAG at buryreferrals@whag.info

We offer support with:

  • Keeping safe
  • Accessing legal advice and options
  • Welfare Benefits
  • Budgeting/Debts
  • Life Skills
  • Resettlement/Re-housing
  • Accessing Community Services
  • Form Filling
  • Pre-tenancy Support
  • Training/Education/Employment
  • Other services

How does it work?

We have a team of four full-time support workers; one is a Punjabi/Urdu speaker.

Once we have received your referral, we will contact you within 48 hours to advise you of the outcome.  You will then be added to our waiting list and in the meantime, you will have access to telephone support.

A domestic abuse support worker will support you up to a maximum of 12 months depending on your individual support needs.

WHAG also work in the community delivering the Freedom Programme and the  Recovery Tool Kit.
